The Wilderness ARC was established by ACE Races, in conjunction with Detail Events, in 2005. ACE Races has been staging adventure races in the UK since 1998 and is the most established and experienced provider in the country. The Wilderness ARC organizers aim to be efficient at all times and to deliver a well organised, tough but fair race, to a standard and level befitting a World Championship race. All teams should expect to be challenged and the course will be suitably technical with both long and short discipline stages. The race will often be remote and wild - all forms of travel will be human powered.

The Wilderness ARC team believes in giving people value for money. Teams who are unable to maintain a World Championship pace will be allowed to continue on a shorter course. They recognise that teams invest a lot of time, money, resources and effort to compete in a race at this level – as such, they will do all they can to keep teams in the race for as long as possible and to experience the best that Scotland has to offer.
